この化学物質は皮膚を通じて吸収される可能性があるため、注意が必要だ。研究では、22種類の腕時計バンドをテストし、そのうち15種類が1%以上のフッ素を含んでいることが分かった。中でも、フルオロエラストマーを使用したバンドはPFASを含む可能性が高いとされている。腕時計バンドにPFASが含まれているかを確認するためには、素材に注目することが重要だ。フルオロエラストマー（またはFKM）と記載されているバンドは避け、シリコン、ナイロン、レザー、または金属製のバンドを選ぶとよい。価格が30ドル以下のバンドはシリコン製であることが多く、PFASを含まないと考えられる。

How to Find a Watch Band Free of "Forever Chemicals"
Recent research has uncovered the presence of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), also known as "forever chemicals," in smartwatch bands. These chemicals raise concerns about potential health impacts, with perfluorohexanoic acid being specifically identified.
Caution is advised, as these chemicals may be absorbed through the skin. The study tested 22 different watch bands, finding that 15 of them contained more than 1% fluorine. Notably, bands made with fluoroelastomer were identified as having a higher likelihood of containing PFAS.
To determine if a watch band contains PFAS, it is crucial to pay attention to the material. Avoid bands labeled as fluoroelastomer (or FKM) and opt for bands made of silicone, nylon, leather, or metal. Bands priced under $30 are often made of silicone and are considered less likely to contain PFAS.
